Marjorie Mitchell Riddick

AHOSKIE – Marjorie Mitchell Riddick, age 76, of Ahoskie passed away at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville on Tuesday, February 26, 2013.
She was born April 2, 1936, in Ahoskie, North Carolina to the late Wayland and Cleatrice Dickerson Mitchell. Marjorie taught in the Pitt and Bertie County Public School systems over a span of 30 years. She graduated from Elizabeth City State University with a BA degree in Elementary Education. She came from a family of educators and was very passionate in her work.
She is survived by her two sons, Rodd Morings (Michelle) of Ahoskie, and Bryan Morings (Lori) of Aulander; two daughters, Carolyn Fayette Mitchell (Dwight) of Chesterfield, VA and Carmento Floyd (Elson) of Pullman, WA; three brothers, Harold Mitchell (Doretha), and Wayland Wanamaker Mitchell of Ahoskie, and Ira Mitchell, (Rhonda) of Chester, VA; three sisters, Sherol Kaye Mitchell Bass of Ahoskie, Cynthia Mitchell Robbins (Hayes) of Greensboro, and Gloria Mitchell Parker of Ahoskie; and one foster brother, James Mitchell (Priscilla) Selma, Alabama. She has fourteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Calvin Riddick, and her siblings, Carolyn Mitchell Ellis, Maxwell Mitchell and Gwendolyn Mitchell Haygood.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at 12 noon at New Ahoskie Baptist Church with Pastor C. David Stackhouse officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to the Marjorie Riddick Endowment at New Ahoskie Baptist Church.
