Edgar Milton Harrell

RICH SQUARE – Mr. Edgar Milton Harrell, age 85, died at Guardian Care Nursing Home in Ahoskie on Monday, February 11, 2013.
Mr. Harrell was a native of Northampton County, born to the late Ola Mae Bryant Harrell and the late James Edgar Harrell. He was married to the late Emily Marie Cox and they made their home in Rich Square.
Mr. Harrell worked at Talon Factory in Woodland for several years and later farmed the family farm until retiring. Following retirement he continued to go out to the farm daily and enjoy the peace and tranquility. He would often spend time reading his Bible beneath the Pecan Tree. Mr. Harrell was a lifelong member of the Rich Square Baptist Church. He loved music and learned to play the piano after retirement.
Also preceding him in death are two sisters, Wilma Evans and Agnes Boyce, as well as his brother, Harlee Harrell.
Survivors include his sister, Geraldine Tucker of Ahoskie; sister-in-law, Dorothy Harrell of Rich Square; two nieces, Diane Ackermann and her husband, Jim, of Hertford, and Brenda Knight of Raleigh; and one nephew, Larry Knight and his wife, Jean, of Fayetteville. Also surviving is one great nephew, Jamie Knight of Fayetteville.
Memorial services will be conducted on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service in Rich Square with the Rev. Bob Rogers officiating.
