Ila Louise Taylor

HARRELLSVILLE – Miss Ila Louise Taylor, age 91 of Cullen Road, Harrellsville and most recently a resident of Guardian Care of Ahoskie, passed away peacefully at Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie on Wednesday, January 23, 2013.

Miss Taylor was born in Hertford County on December 8, 1921, a daughter of the late William Jefferson and Ila Newsome Taylor.  She was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters.

Left to cherish her memory are many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. Her friends and family will always benefit from the wisdom she possessed and willingly shared gained from her long life of Christian service.  She loved to travel and was always ready to go anyplace at most anytime, especially NC State basketball games.  Miss Louise loved basketball, baseball and many other sports.

She was a lifetime member of Christian Harbor Baptist Church, actively involved in the Women’s Missionary Union, and many other church programs and ministries.  She was a care giver for her father, mother and sisters during illnesses, and to many elderly in her community.  She was a retiree of West Point Pepperell.

A celebration of life service will be held Friday, January 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, with the Rev. Hugh Mizelle and the Rev. Gilbert Crawford officiating.  Burial will follow in the Harrellsville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening at the funeral home from 7-8:30 p.m.
