AHOSKIE – Phoebe Margretta Beasley, age 94, departed for her heavenly home on Saturday, January 19, 2013.

She was born on March 20, 1918 in Caldwell County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late John Kelly Blackburn and Estella Mae Traylor Blackburn.  Phoebe worked at various jobs during her life, but enjoyed being a wife, mother and homemaker.  She was a member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church.

Among those who will miss her is her daughter, Maria Dixon and husband, Robert “Buzz” Dixon, of Placentia, CA; her daughter, Sherry Rountree and husband, Don Rountree, of Ahoskie; granddaughter, Jessica Dixon Ekstrom and husband, Jason Ekstrom, of Fullerton, CA; grandson, Josh Dixon; and granddaughter, Stephanie Dixon of Placentia, CA.  Also surviving are grandson, Don Rountree II and wife, Jannell, and son Allen, of Windsor; and grandson Dustin “Dusty” Rountree of Ahoskie; as well as extended family and friends.

Besides her parents, members of her heavenly family include her husband, Ted Earl Beasley; two infant children; her brother, Tilman; and sisters, Velta and Serena.

All are invited to a farewell gathering at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service on Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  Mrs. Beasley will be laid to rest beside her husband in Fairview Cemetery in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
