GREENSBORO – Patrick Wayne Jordan, 79, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on the 8th of January 2013. He was a loving, Christian example to his family and friends and to the community in which he lived.
A native of Ahoskie, NC, he was born January 8, 1934 in Pendleton, NC and lived most of his life in Greensboro. He was the son of the late Joseph Ray Jordan and Carrie Barnes Jordan.
He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Betty Lou Picot Jordan; his daughters, Kimberly Jordan Murray and husband Bob, Shannon Jordan Putnam and husband Bruce, and Patricia Jordan Gillispie and husband Rick, all of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Jordan and Cameron Putnam, Caitlin and Patrick Murray, and Jake, Hannah and Jackson Gillispie; brother, Timothy Lee Jordan and wife, Nancy of Raleigh, NC; sister-in-law, Patricia Reeve of Fort Wayne, IN; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Patrick was preceded in death by his sister, Undine Elizabeth Worrock, and a brother, Ray Jackson Jordan.
Patrick was co-founder and President of Carolina Fiber Corporation in Greensboro and was President and owner of Triad Paper Recycling in High Point. He worked over 27 years in the paper recycling business. Prior to this he worked over 25 years for American Cyanamid as a pharmaceutical representative in the Greensboro area.
He was a graduate of Atlantic Christian College and was an Air Force Veteran. Patrick was a member of Pleasant Garden Baptist Church for over 20 years and after moving back to Greensboro from Pleasant Garden he joined and attended Westover Church for the past 15 years. He enjoyed reading and spending time with family and friends.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Westover Church located at 505 Muirs Chapel Road, Greensboro, NC. Prior to the service, the family will have gathered for a private internment and graveside service at Forest Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church immediately following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC; to Westover Church, 505 Muirs Chapel Road Greensboro, NC 27410; or to Pleasant Garden Baptist Church, 1415 Neelley Rd., Pleasant Garden, NC 27313.
