SEVERN – Lorice Fogelman Britt, 87, widow of John “Jack” Sherrod Britt, passed away January 8, 2013 at Courtland Healthcare Center.

She was born in Union, SC, a daughter of the late Thomas Walter and Freda Coggins Fogleman and was predeceased by two sisters, Jewel Yow and Audrey Stapleton. She was a graduate of Mars Hill College and Wake Forest University.

A former teacher, Mrs. Britt had taught at Kings Mountain, Severn, Murfreesboro, and the Chowan University Upward Bound Program. She was a member of the Severn Baptist Church, where she was a former choir member and GA Leader.

Left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Denise Britt Helms and husband, David; two sons, J. Sherrod Britt, Jr. and wife, Debbie, and Tommy Britt, and wife, Christy, all of Severn; nine grandchildren, Kristie Burns, Emily Williams, Beth Bland, Dave Helms, Sarah Wells, Michelle Britt, Devin Britt, Celena Pope, and Alana Pope; and four great grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 1p.m. on Friday, January 11, 2013 at Severn Baptist Church with the Rev. Brent Hobbs officiating.  Burial will follow in the Severn Cemetery.
