BOWLING GREEN, VA – Mary Taylor Newsome, age 95, was welcomed by her Heavenly Father into her eternal rest on Tuesday, December 4, 2012.

Born in Trap, NC, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Icie Taylor. She lived most of her life in Harrellsville, NC, and was a member of the Christian Harbor Baptist Church.

In her spare time, Mary loved sewing, especially making quilts.

Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clarence J. Newsome.  She is survived by her daughters, Jane Stephens and husband, Max, of Smithfield, VA, and Lou Ferguson and husband, Bruce, of Bowling Green, VA; a son, Jack Newsome and wife, Dottie, of Cobb Creek, VA; and a brother, Cecil Taylor and wife, Lillian, of Eure, NC. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Gene Bullis, Greg Bullis, Chris Bullis, Doug Ferguson, and Brian Ferguson; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 8 at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, 205 NC Hwy 42 West, Ahoskie, NC.  A funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel at 2:00 p.m.  Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens.
