CONWAY – Mrs. Mary Lucy Martin Garriss, age 86 of Conway, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012 at her home.

Mrs. Garriss was born November 25, 1925 in Northampton County, the daughter of the late Craven Martin and Emma Barnes Martin.  She was also predeceased by her husband, Basil Garriss.

Mrs. Garriss was a member of Conway United Methodist Church where she had served as President of The Woman’s Society of Christian Services, Chairman of Board of Trustees, a member of L.V. Harris Sunday School Class and a member of the Chancel Choir.

Mrs. Garriss loved to sew, work in her yard and had a great love of horses.  She had worked for H.L. Evans and Son in Murfreesboro, Severn Peanut Company in Severn, and Terra Sales in Conway.

She is survived by her sons, Larry Garriss of Halifax, and Craig Garriss and his wife, Karen, of Kitty Hawk; her sister, Shirley M. Gay and her husband, Lynmore, of Conway, her sister-in-law, Sue Garris of Severn; her grandchildren, Shelley Garriss, Todd Garriss, Holly Garriss and Samantha Garriss; her nieces, Debbie Burke, Darlene Draper, Marie Forney, Roslyn “Roz” Gay, and a nephew, Jason Gay; several great nieces and nephews and her special companion “Tiki”.

Graveside services will be held, Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Conway Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Hill officiating.

The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Jackson on Tuesday from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home of Mrs. Garriss.

Memorial contributions may be made to Conway Vol. Fire Department or the Conway-Severn Rescue Squad.
