Shirley Cooke Sadler

AHOSKIE – Mrs. Shirley Cooke Sadler, 74, of Ahoskie died Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice Center, Greenville.

Mrs. Sadler was born August 1, 1938 in Bertie County, the daughter of the late Gurnie and Elsie Conner Cooke.  She is also predeceased in death by her brothers, Abner and John Cooke

Shirley was a member of Full Gospel Holiness Church in Woodland; an avid bowler; liked to ride her motorcycle; and loved keeping her great grandchildren and riding them on the golf cart. She also loved cooking for people.

She is survived by her husband, Radford Sadler of the home, her sons, Allen “Lovebug” and Donnie Sadler of Ahoskie; her daughter, Joyce Burkett of Ahoskie; her grandson, Allen Mizelle; her granddaughters, Heather Powell, Megan Burkett, Jamie Burkett, Mary Jo Sadler and Kristy Thompson; her great grandchildren, Logan Powell and Alyssa Powell; and her sister, Maggie Benson of Ahoskie.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the Carpenter’s Shop, Ahoskie, with the Rev. Wallace Phillips and the Rev. Raleigh Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie.

The family will receive friends, Saturday, September 29, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Massey Funeral Home, Aulander, and other times at the home of her daughter, Joyce Burkett.
