Hey Hawks Fans!

Your favorite athletes are continuing to strive for success and become victorious in their latest match-ups!

Chowan Football collected their first CIAA team win of the season this Saturday after battling it out with Shaw University with a final score of 49-35.

Tim Hanson rushed for 195 yards while grabbing three touchdowns in the victory with the help from quarterback Cameron Stover, who had 220 passing yards.

The Hawks are now 2-2 on the season and will host Fayetteville State University at 6 p.m. September 29.

Also in Chowan Football news, T.J. Batchelor was named D2 Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Shorter University; he was names CIAA Linebacker of the week as well.

CU Volleyball has certainly picked up where they left off with a big win (25-20, 25-21, 22-25, and 25-17) against rival Elizabeth City State University. Karina Monroe shined in the match-up with a total of 15 kills, while Monica Ruffin had 11 and Allison Smith 10.

Callie Armistead contributed an outstanding 41 assists. Cindy Ehrich did her job on the back row by totaling 15 digs. The team is now 8-3 overall and 6-0 in CIAA play. The Hawks will travel to Petersburg, Va to encounter the Virginia State Lady Trojans at 6 p.m. September 24.

Jordan Harrell helped lead the CU Men’s Cross Country team to a fourth place finish at the Virginia Union University Invitational. He finished an 8K course in 32:08 for a ninth place overall finish.

Jaqweese Williams came in with a 32:38 finish, Sasha Kirsanov 33:38, Shawn Daley 36:32, Adam Kerns 38:13, and Warren Smith crossed the finish line with a 40:38 time.
