Ted Hamilton Shinaberry

RICHMOND, VA – Ted Hamilton Shinaberry, 85, of Richmond, VA, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2012.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar A. and Mary V. Shinaberry; and brothers, Ronald Eugene Shinaberry and Thomas Hannah Shinaberry.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Emily A. Shinaberry; two children, Wendy S. Brooks and husband, Bill, of Fredericksburg, VA, Ted H. Shinaberry Jr. and wife, Patty, of Holly Springs, N.C.; brothers, Lewis Shinaberry of Warren, Ohio, and Gale Shinaberry of Niles, Ohio; sister, Rebecca Evans of South Jordan, Utah; sister-in-law, Elva Shinaberry of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, Garrett, Spencer and Sarah Brooks, Jacob and Savannah Shinaberry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ted was raised in Cass, W.VA and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He taught dance at Arthur Murray Studios in West Virginia and Richmond. He retired from International Harvester, volunteered at Johnston-Willis Hospital for 10 years, and was an active member of Huguenot United Methodist Church where he served as head usher and was very involved in The United Methodist Men’s Group.
The family received friends on Sunday, September 16 at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road. A funeral service was held Monday, September 17 at Huguenot U.M.C. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 18 at Highland Memorial Gardens in Ahoskie, N.C. Memorials may be made to Huguenot U.M.C., 10661 Duryea Drive, Richmond, Va. 23235.
