WINTON – Hertford County Cooperative Extension Service is partnering with the Hertford County Health Department to begin the ground work on beginning a farmers market in Winton.

According to Extension officials, they are very excited about this opportunity and they need your help in the process.

To gauge the public’s interest, a meeting will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 10 at the Hertford County Cooperative Extension Office in Winton. Extension Office personnel want to hear from local farmers and producers who would be potential sellers at the market and the general public who would be potential buyers.

The meeting will also serve as an avenue to determine where the market should be located as well as its hours of operation.

“If you have any input at all about a farmers market we would love to hear from you,” said Wendy Burgess. “If you cannot attend the meeting we would still like to have you input so please stop by the Extension Office and leave your comments or email me at wendy_drake@ncsu.edu.  Your input is critical in determining the success of this potential opportunity so please share with us at the meeting on Monday or send us your feedback via email.”
