A Seaboard man has been charged with allegedly committing break-ins in Halifax and Northampton counties.

Detective R. Somogyi of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said over the past several months Halifax and Northampton received reports of residential break-ins in the outskirts of Roanoke Rapids and southern Northampton County.

Investigation with Lieutenant Brenda Burnette of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office helped determine the same suspects were allegedly committing some of these break-ins.

Investigation led to the arrest of Travathan Cartez Wyche, 23. Somogyi and Burnette charged him with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, larceny of a firearm and injury to real property.

He faces the same charges in Northampton, Burnette said, for a breaking and entering that occurred in January outside Garysburg.

Two other people were arrested in that crime but Wyche fled. He was arrested Thursday in Halifax County.

He was jailed on $80,000 bond and has court dates of August 13 in Northampton and October 17 in Halifax.

Somogyi said additional charges and arrests are pending.
