WHITAKERS – Two teens are charged in a double murder here Saturday night, according to WITN-TV.

According to television station’s report, 17-year-old Jacob Whitfield was charged Sunday morning with the murder of his father, Brian Anthony Whitfield, and his stepmother, Charisma Whitfield. On Monday afternoon, police arrested Joshua Powers, 17, reportedly a friend of Jacob Whitfield.

Both teens are being held without bond.

The report also indicated that Jacob Whitfield’s younger brother was reportedly in the home at the time of the incident.

The Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald confirmed Monday that Brian Whitfield was employed as a nurse at Rivers Correctional Institute in Winton. Additionally, the News-Herald learned through a spokesperson at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie that Brian Whitfield was employed there from 2001-03 as a registered nurse and hospital supervisor.
