Donald LeRoy “Lee” Viersen

CARY – Donald LeRoy “Lee” Viersen, 61, of Cary died Friday, June 15, 2012 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

Lee was born October 31, 1950 in Ahoskie.

He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was employed with Sherwin Williams.

Lee was a member of First United Methodist Church of Cary.  He was actively involved in outreach ministry through the Appalachia Service Project, Mighty Mondays and the church’s mission to southeast Raleigh.  He was a beloved worker of the Unity Sunday School Class and served on the Leadership Team for the Celebration Service.

Lee was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Dukes Viersen.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Rebecca Krick Viersen; son, Paul William Viersen of Cary; father, Donald LeRoy Viersen, Sr. of Ahoskie; sister, Donna Viersen Whaley and her husband, Jimmy, of Virginia Beach, VA; sister-in-law, Helen Krick Poole and her husband, Terry, of Cary; and nieces, Laura Bess Jernigan of New York, NY; and Virginia Grace Jernigan of Tampa, FL.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2012 at First United Methodist Church of Cary, 117 S. Academy Street, Cary, NC 27511.
