AHOSKIE – Mary Staples Chambers, age 60, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital.  She was born in Pasquotank County on October 11, 1951 to the late Tommie Staples and Earlene Sawyer Staples.

Mrs. Chambers was a retired teacher and a member of Brantley’s Grove Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Michael Anthony Chambers; a daughter, Tammy Chambers Gauldin and husband, Ricky, of Reidsville; two grandchildren, Justin Thompson and Kasey Stroud; sisters, Janet Worthington and husband, Bo, of Windsor, and Sue Vinson and husband, Wayne, of Ahoskie; one niece, two nephews, two great-nephews and two great-nieces. She was predeceased by her brother, Billy Staples.

A celebration of life service was held Sunday, June 10 at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Ward officiating.  Burial followed in Highland Memorial Gardens.
