COLERAIN – Joseph James Lee, age 80, of Hwy 42, died Thursday, June 7, 2012, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Mr. Lee was born in Bertie County on June 5, 1932, a son of the late Jodie Winston and Gladys Miller Lee.  He was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church and had retired as a farmer.  He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Mary Byrum Lee; four sons, Don W. Lee and wife, Ann, of Raleigh, Leslie Lee and wife, JoAnn, of Aulander, Tony Lee of Durham, and Robbie Lee and wife, Michelle, of Florida; a brother, Darrell Lee of Ahoskie; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

A memorial service was conducted at Mars Hill Baptist Church on Saturday, June 9, 2012 with the Rev. Robert Johnson officiating.
