Sue Williford Knowles

WINDSOR – Sue Williford Knowles, 88, of Woodard Road, Windsor, died Monday May 28, 2012 at Three Rivers Nursing Home.

She was born in Bertie County to John Braxton and Lessie Castellow Williford and was predeceased by her husband, Russell Blount Knowles; and three brothers, Steamboat, BB and Toby Williford.

Sue was a retired bookkeeper with Lancaster Hatchery and Claude Todd’s Chevrolet Dealership.  She was a member of Windsor United Methodist Church and the UMW.  She also was the former treasurer of Cashie Methodist Church in Woodard and a former 4 H Leader.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 31, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Windsor United Methodist Church by the Rev. David Woolsey.  Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.

Survivors include a son, William Blount Knowles and wife, Dale, of Windsor; daughters, Linda Knowles Jorgensen and Patricia Knowles Schilbe and husband, Hal, all of Richmond, VA; a granddaughter, Susan Knowles of Raleigh; sisters; Mae Adams of Columbia, SC, Gerald Perry of Raleigh; and brothers, Jimmy and Jack Williford of Windsor, William Tell Williford of Rich Square and Eugene Williford of Everetts.

The family will receive friends form 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30 at Walker Funeral Home in Windsor and at other times from the home.  Memorial gifts may be made to Windsor United Methodist Church, PO Box 238, Windsor, NC 27983 or to Bertie County Rescue Squad, PO Box 74, Windsor, NC 27983.
