Myrtle Faye Lassiter

KELFORD – Mrs. Myrtle Faye Lassiter, age 75, died at Vidant Hospital on May 25, 2012.

Mrs. Lassiter was a member of Kelford Baptist Church. She was a loving wife and mother that always made sure that her kids had an open door to come home to. Willing to put others and their needs before her own, she was there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Known for her many quotes, such as “What’s life without a Christmas Tree”, she always had a positive outlook on life.

Preceding her in death are her mother and father, Zula and Wilmer Modlin; her sister, Pat McClannahan; and a brother, Wilmer Gray Modlin.

Survivors include her husband, A. J. Lassiter of the home; one daughter, Sandra Emory and her husband, Tim, of Kelford; two sons, Ken Lassiter and his wife, Greta, of Rich Square and David Lassiter and his wife, Sheila, of Ahoskie; and one sister, Doris Johnson of Virginia Beach, VA. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Braxton and Travis Lassiter, Dawn Owens, Heather Wrenn, Crystal Bazemore, and Chris and Ryan Emory; and four great grandchildren: Kendall, Claire, Jesse and Blake.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, May 28, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Kelford Baptist Church in Kelford with entombment following at Roxobel-Kelford Cemetery in Roxobel. Officiating will be Rev. Gary Jones and Rev. Doug Spivey.

The family received friends at Sykes Funeral Service on Sunday evening, May 27.
