GATES – One week following his political loss in the May Democratic Primary, Chuck Brothers re-affirmed his intentions to remain a part of Gates County local government.
In an email dated May 11, sent to each member of the Gates County Board of Commissioners, Brothers said he would like to be considered for reappointment to the Gates County Planning Board.
A copy of the email was sent to each current member of the Planning Board as well as to the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald/Gates County Index.
“My first term will expire in May or June. I would like to have consideration to be reappointed to the Planning Board for an additional three-year period and (a) second term. (I’m) Thanking you in advance for your consideration,” Brothers said in the email.
Information included in the email pointed to the fact that Brothers had filed a request to the County Manager’s Office on April 20 for reappointment to the Planning Board, 18 days prior to the Primary.
Brothers was defeated in the Primary as he sought to unseat incumbent Commissioner Henry Jordan, who currently represents the Sunbury District on the board. Unofficial results from last week’s Primary showed Jordan winning that race by less than 150 votes (1,048 – 901).
