Evelyn Marie Boone Jones

Evelyn Marie Boone Jones, 80, was born January 20, 1932 to the late Jason Boone and Florie Marie White Boone in Gates County. She attended T. S. Cooper School.  She was a member of Stoney Branch Baptist Church. She worked  as a Cook for Red Apple, and Alamac for 20 years.

She was married to the late Roosevelt Jones.

She was preceded in death by her only son, Morris, and two daughters, Dorothy and Luvenia.

Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.  She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Gayle Fleetwood (James) of Winton, Christine Thacker (Dannie) of Chase City, VA and Bernice Pugh (James) of Ahoskie.  She raised two grandchildren as her own, Willetta (Malcolm) of Franklin, VA and William, who preceded her in death. She is also survived by two brothers, Thomas (Angita) of Greensboro and Hollis  (Carla) of Virginia; four sisters, Margaret (Mackel) and Janis, both of Gates, Odell of Brooklyn, NY and Georgia of Suffolk, VA; 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at First Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, with the Rev. Robert Richardson III officiating. Burial will follow in the South Winton Church Cemetery.

Viewing will be from 1-8 p.m. on Tuesday and the wake from 6-7 p.m.
