MURFREESBORO — Tony Hugar DeBerry, age 58, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie.

Mr. DeBerry was born in Northampton County on February 11, 1954 to Frances Worrell DeBerry and the late Jack Harold DeBerry. He was a welder and millwright and taught welding at Roanoke Chowan Community College. Tony was a Boy Scout, an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed taking his truck to “the back field” to look for deer and turkeys.

Besides his mother, Tony is survived by a daughter Billie Jo Ivey and husband, Sam of Ahoskie; step-sons, Brandon Jones of the home, and Josh Jones of Woodland; brothers, Steven DeBerry of Norfolk, VA, and Jerry DeBerry of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Alston Hathaway, Tyler Hathaway, Caleb Ivey, Dalton Jones, Gracie Jones and Emma Jones. He is also survived by Donna Curley DeBerry.

Family will receive friends on Friday, April 27, 2012 from 7 – 8:30 PM at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home in Ahoskie.
