Chowan hosts Girls, Womens Day

MURFREESBORO – The Chowan University Athletic Department is proud to host the 14th Annual Girls and Women in Sport Day on Friday, April 27th, 2012.

The event will be hosted on the campus of Chowan University at the Helms Center. This a free and fun event for girls and boys ages 4 and up.

The four-hour event will feature free mini-clinics in basketball, cheerleading, bowling, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball. The night will also feature a bowling and cross country segment. All participants will receive a t-shirt and dinner. This fun-filled evening is free of charge for all participants.

The purpose of the event is to introduce these sports to young girls in hopes of future participation in recreational and school sports organizations. The participants will be exposed to college level coaches and student-athletes, who will iterate the important life lessons and character development that participation in sport can teach.

Door prizes will also be given out during the dinner session. Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably and wear sneakers. All equipment will be provided by the athletic department.

Registration will start at 5:15pm and last until 5:45pm. The mini-clinics will begin at 6:00pm and last until 9:00pm. Immediately following the clinics, dinner will be served. All participants will need to be picked up by 9:00pm.
