Stevens seeks Sheriff’s seat

WOODLAND — It may be two years off, but Woodland Police Chief Jesse Stevens says he intends to run for Northampton County Sheriff.

Stevens announcement came at the recent Woodland Town Board of Commissioner’s meeting during his report to the board.

“I do want to make an official announcement to the town board that I do have every intention of running for the sheriff in 2014 election process,” he said.

Stevens said there have been a number of rumors concerning whether or not he would run for the seat.

“So I felt that it was only fair that you hear it from me and kind of alleviate you from having to deal with the rumors,” he said.

Stevens has served as Police Chief since November 2009. Before taking the position he was a sergeant with the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office.

Northampton Sheriff Wardie Vincent has not if he will seek another term.
