CREWE, VA – Elizabeth Lynn Williams Shook, 45, died on April 2, 2012, leaving behind a family who will dearly miss the ray of sunshine and laughter she brought to their lives.
Beth is survived by her husband, Trace Randall Shook, and their children, Sara Elizabeth Shook, 10, and Isaac Randall Shook, 9.
Born March 25, 1967 in Suffolk, VA, Beth lived in Crewe and taught biology at Nottoway County High School for the past 10 years.
She is survived by her parents, Lana Tucker Williams of Suffolk, VA and Victor Lee Williams of Ahoskie; two sisters, Allison T. Williams of Suffolk, VA and Susan L. Williams of High Point; and her grandmother, Mabel Brumfield Tucker of Suffolk, VA.
Beth will be missed by her extended family, Jack and Wanda Shook of Keysville, VA; her sisters-in-law and their husbands, Alisa and Andy Dyson of Knotts Island, Kara and Robbie Peatross of Ashland, VA and Tonya and Scott Mallory of Richmond, VA; and her nieces and nephews, Alex, Kyle and Emily Palmer and Adam and Jace Mallory; and her lifelong best friend, Suzanne Hosier Stockman of Richmond, VA.
Beth, a graduate of Longwood University and John Yeates High School in Suffolk, VA, was a lead teacher for Nottoway Public Schools and co-sponsor for the Class of 2013. As an educator and active parent in Nottoway-Burkeville Youth Athletic League, Beth has touched the lives of countless children. Beth was a lifelong member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Chuckatuck, VA and a former member of the East Hanover Volunteer Rescue Squad.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 6, 2012 at the Nottoway High School Auditorium; burial will follow in the Crewe Cemetery.
Visitation with family and friends will be held 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the Jennings-McMillian Funeral Home, 200 West Carolina Avenue, Crewe, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Nottoway Rescue Squad or the Crewe-Burkeville Recreation Youth Association.
