Mona Rae Burgess Wright

CONWAY – Mona Rae Burgess Wright, 82, of Conway died Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Rich Square Villa in Rich Square after a lengthy illness.

A native of Northampton County, she was a devoted wife and had retired as an Operator with the New Jersey Telephone Company.  She was a multitalented person who enjoyed baking, especially, delicious cakes and biscuits, crocheting, painting, celebrating the seasons with appropriate decorations, visiting with children, loved flowers and traveling extensively with her husband.  Together they managed Charlie’s Family RV Park, formerly know as Decharmanel in Kill Devil Hills for many years.

She had been preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Faye Wright; a son, Charles Ray Wright; a grandson, Matthew Wright; parents, Noah and Geneva Burgess; brothers,  Randolph, E. J., Jesse and Roger Burgess; sisters, Ruby Barrett, Ella Mae Bartsch, and Nellie DeLoatch; and brother-in-law, Raymond Wright and wife Rose.

Survivors include her loving husband of over 62 years, Charles L. Wright; three grandsons, Marc McAllister (Erin), Charles McAllister (Ashley) and Patrick (Shelly) of Florida; two great grandchildren, Kara and Caleb McAllister of Florida; sister, Mamie B. Bridgers of Greensboro; two brothers-in-law, Randolph Wright (Virginia) of Roanoke Rapids and Donald Wright (Dianne) of Florida; one sister-in-law, Rachel Kogler (Ken) of Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 in the Town of Conway Cemetery with Robert Wilton Barrett presiding.  Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc. in Conway is in charge of arrangements.
