Shirley Dickens Vann

MURFREESBORO – Shirley Dickens Vann peacefully passed away March 21, 2012.  She was predeceased by her husbands Perry Mecum Dickens and Lloyd Vann.

Shirley made her profession of faith in 1929 and became a member of the Meherrin Baptist Church in Murfreesboro.

She is remembered by the Murfreesboro community for her thirty three years of dedicated service as customer service representative of The Farmers Bank and The Bank of America.  Her banking career began March of 1950 and concluded with her retirement in March 1983.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Julian Edward Dickens Sr. and his wife, Dixie, and Jan Johnson Dickens Sr. and his wife, Joan; her granddaughter, Parish Dickens Mills; grandsons, Jed Dickens and Jay Dickens; and great grandmother to Deuce Johnson, Haven Dickens, Hartley Dickens, Brooklyn Dickens and Gatling Dickens.

She was a very loving aunt to her nephew, Cecil S. Hollomon, Jr; and her nieces, Laura Liverman Olmstead and Cecille Liverman Waters.

The family will receive friends at Meherrin Baptist Church from 7-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 22.  A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 23 at 4 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery, Murfreesboro.
