HAMPTON, Va. – Doris Marie Griffin, 82, affectionately known as Marie, was born on June 22, 1929 and departed this life on March 5, 2012, at her home in Hampton, VA.

Marie taught in Newport News Public Schools and retired after 25 years of service.  She was a member of Canaan Baptist Church, formerly known as First Baptist Church Lincoln Park.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Corsie Griffin, parents; William and Arrie Scott; sisters, Louise Brown and Eunice Banks; and brothers, Clarence Scott and William Scott.

Those left behind to cherish fond memories are her brothers, John (Hannah) and Walter (Ruby); and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A viewing will take place on Friday, March 9, 2012 from 12 noon until 6 p.m. at Ronald C. Perkins Funeral Home, 251 West Queen Street, Hampton, VA.  On Saturday, March 10, 2012 a viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and the funeral service will begin at 12 noon at Canaan Baptist Church, 1100 West Queen Street, Hampton, VA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Canaan Baptist Church.
