Lacy Jackson

WINDSOR – Lacy Jackson, 79 of Windsor, died peacefully on February 18, 2012 at Vidant Health Center in Greenville.

Mr. Jackson was born September 20, 1932 to Dan and Sallie Mae Townsend Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Paul Jackson and R.D. Jackson of Bladenboro, NC. He was a native of Bladen County and made his home in Windsor for over 45 years.

Mr. Jackson entire career of 58 years was in Highway Construction. He worked with Barnhill Contracting Company until his retirement. He loved working for Barnhill and the employees that he worked with each day. Barnhill he would say was “the best company I have ever worked for”.

Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Shirley Sykes Jackson of the home; three daughters, Angela Marie Jackson of the home, Janice Jackson Anton and husband, Dennis, of Jamesville, and Cheryl Jackson Whitley and husband, Randy, of Murfreesboro; grandchildren Dennis Dale Anton Jr. and Joseph Hilton Heath and girlfriend, Carrie Cullipher, of Windsor and Amanda Whitley Brett and husband, Ian, of Kernersville; one brother, Donald Jackson of Bladenboro; sisters, Ann Jackson Pittman and husband, Mard, Brenda Jackson Burney and husband, David, of Bladensboro, Patsy Jackson Hester and husband, Dan, of Clayton and Joyce Jackson Wheller and husband, Frank, of Plymouth; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Charles Sawyer and Dr. Tom Lee for the special care they gave him.

The memorial service was held Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Walker Funeral Home with the Reverends Jim Cox and J.N. Baggett officiating.
