AHOSKIE – Mr. James D. Bell, age 85, died Wednesday February 22, 2012 at Vidant Roanoke – Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie.

Born in Halifax County, NC, Mr. Bell was the son of the late James Franklin Bell and Hester Taylor Bell.

Mr. Bell served in the United States Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Betty McKell Bell; five children, John Bell of Fredricksburg, VA, James D. Bell, Jr. of Ahoskie, Wanda P. Perry of Ahoskie, David Earl Bell of Ahoskie and Catherine Elaine Bell of Ahoskie; his sister, Mavelyn Ginn of Murfreesboro; three grandchildren, Mandy Feher, Jim Perry and Alyssa Bell; ten step grandchildren and one step great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February, 25, 2012 in the chapel of Massey Funeral Home, Aulander, with interment in the Aulander Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 24, 2012 at Massey Funeral Home in Aulander.
