RICH SQUARE – The North Carolina Department of Transportation has announced the closure of SR 1108 (Chapel Hill Road) effective Monday, Feb. 6.

According to information provided by S.L. Emory, Resident Engineer of the DOT office in Ahoskie, the road will be closed to allow for construction of a new bridge over Bridger’s Creek.

Emory anticipates the road closure to last through June.

Chapel Hill Road is located approximately one mile south of Rich Square off US 258.

Traffic the normally uses Chapel Hill Road will be detoured around the work site on US 258 and Bryantown Road (SR 1109).

Northampton County officials – to include Emergency Medical Services, public school transportation and the Sheriff’s Office – were notified well in advance of the road closure.
