‘Tis the season….for Crossroads.

Roanoke-Chowan Publications has launched its annual Crossroads edition, marking the 12th consecutive year that this special section has published.

This year’s overall theme is “Citizen of the Year.” Back in October and November of 2011, RC Publications solicited nominations from the public for the names of individuals or organizations that were worthy of recognition for the good deeds they perform within the local four county area.

Nominations came in from every corner of our region, each added to the list of interviews to be conducted by RCP staffers.

Now, the public will learn the identity of those worthy nominees over the four-week life of Crossroads – 2012. Publishing each Saturday (R-C News-Herald) and Wednesday (Gates County Index) during the month of February, the readers of those two publications will be taken on a month-long voyage, stopping along the way to visit those who make a big difference in how we live our lives in the Roanoke-Chowan area.

At least four local citizens or groups will be featured each week, building up to the naming of the 2011 R-C area Citizen of the Year at the end of the month.

While only one will earn that title, RC Publications can safely say that all the finalists were winners. Their community pride and love for their fellow man makes the R-C area a great place in which to live and work.
