WINTON – The 9-1-1 phone line at the Hertford County Communications Center here will be off-line for two hours on Thursday morning, Jan. 26.

Hertford County Sheriff Juan Vaughan said maintenance work will be performed on that line between the hours of 8:30-10:30 a.m. The work involves connecting the line to a back-up generator that will keep the line activated in case of a power outage.

Vaughan said anyone needing to call 9-1-1 to seek emergency aid during that two-hour period on Thursday should use the Sheriff’s Office number (252-358-7800).
