KINSTON – Phyllis Ann Tinkham Dilday, 66, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011.

Phyllis was born and raised in Ahoskie. She was a graduate of the Louise Obici School of Nursing and worked as an RN in various capacities throughout her life. So many lives have been touched by Phyllis in her quiet, calm and caring way. Her devotion to her family and to carrying out God’s word shine through and leave us with hope, love and peace.

She loved time spent with family and friends, and was never prouder than in moments of holding newborn grandchildren in her arms, rocking and singing softly. Although she will be missed in all these ways by so many, none compare to the loss of a devoted and loving wife of 46 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hallie and Hilda Tinkham; and brother, Allen Tinkham.

She is survived by her husband, Kendall Dilday of the home; sons, Jonathan Dilday and wife, Kelly, of Clayton, Mark Dilday and wife, Emily, of Apex, and Tim Dilday and wife, LaDonna, of Kinston; brother, Tommy Tinkham and wife, Debbie, of Windsor; and grandchildren, Kori Dilday, Kaci Dilday, Kati Dilday, Hannah Dilday, David Dilday, Hunter Eubanks, Hallie Dilday, Kennedy Santes and Tevis Dilday.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday Jan. 4, 2012 at Tanglewood Church of God with Pastor Allen Stocks and the Rev. Roger Elliott officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Polycystic Kidney Foundation by visiting Pkdcure.org or to 8330 Ward Parkway, Suite 510 Kansas City, MO 64114-2000.

Arrangements by Howard Carter Funeral Home of Kinston.
