MURFREESBORO – Mr. Elliott Lee Vinson Sr., age 90 of Murfreesboro, died Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at his home.

Mr. Vinson was born March 15, 1921 in Hertford County, the son of the late Gamma Vinson and Myrtis Mitchell  Vinson.  He was  member of Meherrin Baptist Church and owner of Vinson Drainage Company.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Ella Mae Vinson; his brothers, Woodrow and Elton Vinson; and his sisters, Flora Harrison and Anne Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Polly S. Vinson; his children, Elliott L. Vinson, Robert E. Vinson Sr. and his wife, Kaye, Gloria Williams, Linda Jernigan and Becky Davidson and her husband, Joey; his stepchildren, Fawn, Don and Kevin Ryan; 24 grandchildren; 64 great grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2011 at Meherrin Baptist Church Cemetery in Murfreesboro.

The family will receive friends after the service at the church fellowship hall.
