Bertie JVs stay perfect

WINDSOR – The Bertie High School JV Boys basketball team won its fifth straight game, beating Pasquotank 47-22 Tuesday.

The Falcons got started early with their superb defense, holding the visitors scoreless in the first quarter. Bertie led 10-0 after Shyki Mitchell got the team going early scoring five points in the first quarter.

The second saw more of the same as the Falcons allowed the visitors to score six points. Jamal Perry got Bertie going as he would score four points. David Watford would hit two buckets as well, while Mitchell hit a three-pointer.

Bertie took a 29-6 advantage into the locker room.

After some quick steals from Marquis Holley, the Falcons started rolling again in the third quarter. Pasquotank would score six more points in the third making the score 39-12 going into the last quarter.

The Falcons closed out the game 47-22.

First year BHS Head Coach Grantley Mizelle stated, “Our defense was really good tonight. If we can continue to work hard in practice and stay focused then the sky is the limit for us.”

Bertie goes to 5-0 on the season overall and 2-0 in Northeastern Coastal Conference play.
