William “Bill” Clyde Bridgers

AHOSKIE – William “Bill” Clyde Bridgers, age 77 of Ahoskie, died Friday, December 2, 2011 at UHS Inpatient Hospice in Greenville.

He was born September 13, 1934 in Northampton County to the late Simon Bridgers and Emma Cox Bridgers.

Mr. Bridgers was retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation as an Inspector. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a lifetime member of the Ahoskie United Methodist Church where he served in various positions including being an Usher, and as a volunteer with Roanoke Chowan Hospital and the Ahoskie Food Pantry.

Mr. Bridgers is survived by his loving wife, Ann Willig Bridgers; a son, Danny Bridgers and his wife, Mysha, of Cape Coral, FL; a daughter, Liz Derby and her husband, Guy, of Charlotte; grandchildren, Erika Derby, Evan Derby and his wife, Cassie, all of Charlotte, Nicholas Bridgers and his wife, Mamie, of Japan and Kristen Bridgers of Greenville; great grandchildren, Taylor and Christian Derby; and sister-in-laws, Elisabeth Willig and Theresa Sinsig, both of Germany.

A Celebration of Life Memorial service was held Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Ahoskie United Methodist Church. Rev Lee Edwards officiated.
