WINTON — Gay Sumner, tax collector for Hertford County, announced earlier this month that the tax office has launched an innovative web site to assist taxpayers and those who do business in Hertford County by assessing important tax information online.

Property and vehicle tax information is now available at the following web site address: www.hertfordtax.com.

“Our new Online Tax web site allows our citizens to search, view and pay their property and vehicle tax bill from the convenience of their home or office. Citizens can pay online via PayPal using any major credit card. A 30 cent per transaction plus a 2.2 percent convenience fee will be added to your cart upon check out. Citizens can print copies of their tax bill, paid receipt and request an address change using the web site features,” said Sumner.

In addition, the Tax Collector’s Office now offers a toll free number to pay your taxes by phone at: 1-888-520-8728. Credit card payments at the counter will continue to be a provided service.

The Tax Collector’s Office plans to continue to upgrade the technology services they offer their citizens.

“Our office will continue to look for opportunities to make our citizen services more convenient while improving their efficiency of our tax office,” said Sumner.

The site was developed and will be maintained by Sturgis Web Services of Fort Mill, South Carolina, www.sturgiswebservices.com. PayPal is an Ebay company and is the largest secure Internet provider globally.
