JACKSON — New details about the formation of Eastside EMS has come forth after the group was granted a franchise in Northampton County.

According to Northampton County Manager Wayne Jenkins, Eastside EMS is in the process of obtaining loaner vehicles from either Conway-Severn Rescue Squad or Jackson Rescue Squad.

“I was provided with information from Charles Joyner (Northampton County EMS Director) that Eastside EMS is working to obtain a loaner vehicle from one or the other,” he said.

An official with Conway-Severn Rescue Squad said they have yet to be contacted by Eastside EMS.

Chris Buffaloe, commander of the Conway-Severn Rescue Squad, said the organization has not received any request from Eastside EMS.

“We have not been approached by any member at Eastside EMS,” he said.

In turn, Buffaloe said the need for another EMS unit on the eastern side of the county is definitely there.

“We were very saddened when Woodland EMS was dissolved,” he said.

He added the dissolution of Woodland EMS placed a strain on EMS and rescue resources in the county.

“We wish Eastside EMS luck in establishing themselves,” he said. “There’s most definitely a need.”
