WILLIAMSPORT, MD – Mrs. Mary Parker Jordan Burkette, 90, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Williamsport Nursing Home in Williamsport, Maryland.

Mary was a long time resident of Ahoskie. She was born August 11, 1921 in Bertie County to Johnnie Martha Bell and Jesse Claude Jordan, and lived most of her adult life in Hertford County where she and her husband owned and operated Reliable Plumbing Service.  She was known for her exceptional sewing ability and often shared her talent by altering or sewing clothing for friends and family.

Mrs. Burkette was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Walter Daniel Burkette; three sisters, Johnnie Rayfield, Irene Barnes and Carrie Coburn; and three brothers, Jessie (Buddy), Jerry, and Bertrum (QT) Jordan  She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Pat Worley Burkette of Shepherdstown, WV.

Family will receive friends at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home in Ahoskie on Saturday, November 26, 2011 from 10:30-11:15 a.m.  A graveside service will immediately follow in Highland Memorial Gardens at 11:30 a.m.
