Nettie B. Futrell

WINTON – Nettie Mae Britt Futrell, 83, of110 River Road, Winton, died Thursday, November 17, 2011 in Guardian Care of Ahoskie.
Mrs. Futrell was born inNorthamptonCountyand was the daughter of the late Luter John and Annie Rebecca Vann Britt. A homemaker, she also had been employed as a teller with the former Tarheel Bank in Winton. A member ofWintonBaptistChurch, she had served as a Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Bryant Futrell, Jr.; a son, John B. Futrell; a sister, Grace Britt; four brothers, William, Godwin, Guy and Southgate Britt; and a granddaughter, Susan Parker.
Surviving are her two sons, Joseph Futrell and wife, Joyce, and David Futrell and wife, Debbie, all of Winton; a brother, Rev. Wallace Britt and wife, Dorothy, of Canton; two sisters-in-law, Clara Britt of Murfreesboro and Sarah Britt of Raleigh; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2011 inWintonBaptistChurchby the Rev. Steve Wall. A private burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may join the family on Saturday in the church from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., in the church social hall immediately following the service, or all other times at the home of her son, Joseph,411 E. Pine Street, Winton.
