BLUEMOUNTAIN, Ms. – Lula Pearl White Owen, 76, died Thursday, November 3, 2011, at her home inOxford,MS.
She was born June 11, 1935 inHarrellsville,NC. She was an educator with 14 years in public education and 18 years as elementary education program and supervisor of student teachers atBlueMountainCollege. She received many awards including Outstanding EMC Faculty Member in 1985 and HEADWAE in 1992. She was a Christian and a loyal member and teacher atLowreyMemorialBaptistChurch. She led a Godly life and was devoted to her family, church and community. She was admired and respected by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 6, 2011 atLowreyMemorialBaptistChurchinBlue Mountain,MSwith Dr. Ron Mitchell and Dr. Douglas Bain officiating. Burial was in theBlueMountainCemetery. McBride Funeral Home of Ripley, MS handled the arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Lynn Clark (Paul) of Oxford, MS, Lynda Gatliff (Jim) of Celeste, TX, and Lisa Nachlinger (Dan) of Fort Worth, TX; one son, Donald Glenn Owen Jr. (Angie) of Tupelo, MS; seven grandchildren, Daniel and Chris Clark, Michael, Holly and Katie Gatliff, Lauren and Jordan Nachlinger; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Frost (Bill) of Baldwyn, MS and Lillian Anne Johnson (Mark) of Harrellsville, NC; one brother, Leonard M. Holloman Jr. of Harrellsville, NC; and one sister-in-law, Jean White of Harrellsville, NC.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Donald Glenn Owen Sr.; her parents, George and Charlotte White and Lillan and Leonard M. Holloman Sr.; her grandparents,Pearland Nate Hoggard; one brother, Nathan Hoggard White; two sisters and their husbands, Jennie V. Holloman (Willie) and Maggie Pearl Love (Earl).
