COLERAIN – Mrs. Virginia Dare Miller Johnson, age 88 of Colerain, died Thursday, October 20, 2011 at her home.

Mrs. Johnson was born July 20, 1923 in Bertie County, the daughter of the late Norman Lee Miller and Hattie Belle Todd Miller.  She was also predeceased by a son, Jonathan Johnson Jr.

She was a member of Ross Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Jonathan Johnson; her children, Tommy Ray Johnson and his wife, Phyllis, of Colerain, Randy Johnson and his wife, Melody, of Windsor, Eddie Johnson and his wife, Pat, of Colerain, Esther Johnson of Colerain, Betty Jean Mathews and her husband, Charles, of Hertford and Peggy Johnson of Colerain; her sister, Marie Hoggard of Windsor; nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Ross Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Kiker, the Rev. J.N. Baggett and the Rev. Jeff Russell officiating.  Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery in Windsor.

The family will receive friends at the home.
