Birdie Mae Tucker Manning

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Birdie Mae Tucker Manning, 98, born Aug. 6, 1913 to the late Marshall Clifton and Alberta Mae Powell Tucker of McKenney, VA, died Tuesday, September 20, 2011.
Birdie Mae graduated from Norfolk General Hospital as a registered nurse in 1936. She continued working there and was active in the Alumni, Thalia Methodist Church, and the Thalia Community Development. Birdie Mae became a resident of Westminster Canterbury on Sept. 6, 1996.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin H. Manning; brother, John M. Tucker Sr. (Katherine); sister, Adeline T. Boisseau (Robert); and nephews, Michael H. Tucker and Robert A. Boisseau Jr.
She is survived by one brother, Thomas T. Tucker Sr. (Anne) of Ahoskie; nieces and nephews, John M. Tucker Jr. (Frances), Frank T. Tucker, Thomas M. Tucker, Linda B. Bender (Gene), Thomas T. Tucker Jr. (Judy), Lucie T. Bosi (Jim), and R. Marshall Tucker (Tina); niece-in-law, Linda Boisseau; and 12 great- nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Westminster Canterbury Chapel officiated by Dr. Richard J. Keever. Burial will be private in Rosewood Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the building fund at Thalia United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
