DRC opens Thursday

JACKSON — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be opening a Disaster Recovery Center here on Thursday.

According to a press release from Northampton County, the Disaster Recovery Center, located at the Cultural and Wellness Center, 9536 NC 305 North, will open at 12 noon on Thursday.

The hours of operation for the Disaster Recovery Center are as follows:

Thursday, Sept. 22, 12 noon until 7 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 23, 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 24, 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 25, 1 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Monday, Sept. 26, 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.

The center will host representatives from FEMA, North Carolina Emergency Management and other agencies to provide information to those affected by Hurricane Irene on assistance programs and help individuals apply for disaster aid.

Those seeking assistance are encouraged to pre-register with FEMA by calling 1-800-621-3362 prior to arriving at the Disaster Recovery Center. Those citizens with a speech disability or are deaf or hard of hearing may call (TTY) 1-800-462-7585.
