Cozy Woodrow “Blue Ford” Vann

WINTON – Cozy Woodrow “Blue Ford” Vann, 72, a native of Hertford County, died Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

Vann was born January 25, 1939, the son of the late Spencer C. Vann and Janet Pierce Vann. He joined Mt. Moriah Baptist Church at an early age. Vann worked many jobs and was retired. He was an avid CB’er for life. His love of CB radios expanded far and wide. His handle “Blue Ford” was known most of his life.

Ford had 10 siblings. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include two sisters, Iris Vann Hines and Cheryl V. Manley, both of Winton; one nephew who was raised like a brother, Paul L. Vann of Ahoskie; many nieces, four very close ones, Carnissa V. Melton, Auntra T. Vann, Robin Vann-Walker and Jill Vann-Jones, all of Ahoskie; many nephews, great nephews and great nieces, cousins and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at New Ahoskie Baptist Church by the Rev. Lebron Britt, Jr. Burial will be in the Vann family cemetery, Union.
