Power outages are widespread throughout Northampton County.

Meanwhile, there are numerous reports of downed trees and power lines on the roadways. Crews are working to clear the roads, but with the high wind continuing, other trees are expected to fall.

There is a report of water crossing Griffintown Road one mile south of NC 35 near Potecasi.

Northampton County Emergency Management spokesman Gary Brown said flooding is a problem in the Jackson, Rich Square, Woodland and Potecasi areas. Travel in these areas of the county is not advised.

As of 5:15 p.m., there are no reports of any structural damage in the county.

A countywide curfew goes into effect at 8 p.m. A decision will be made by county officials as to when it will be lifted.
