Kill Devil Hills  — William Edward “Bill” Winn, 56, of 1201 7th Ave., died Sunday, August 7, 2011 in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Mr. Winn was born in Suffolk, VA and was the son of the late Clarence Aubrey and Evelyn Hargrave Winn.  A self-employed carpenter, he was a member of Gatesville United Methodist Church.  An avid outdoorsman, he was a member of Watery Swamp Hunt Club and thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time at the beach and surfing.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Campbell.

Surviving are his sister, Theresa Sharp and husband, Hunter, of Harrellsville; a brother, Clarence Winn, Jr., and wife, Sharen, of Gates; and four nephews, Jimmy and Billy Winn and Hunter and Aubrey Sharp.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville by the Rev. Billy Presley.

The family asks that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to the Hertford-Gates Relay for Life, in care of Angie Plaunty, 226 Jernigan Swamp Road, Ahoskie, NC 27910.
