James Taylor Cooke

WILMINGTON – James Taylor Cooke passed away July 29, 2011 at his home in Wilmington, NC.
Born June 28, 1944 in Suffolk, VA, he was the son of the late Dr. Quinton Cooke, Sr. and Louise Taylor Cooke.
James grew up in Murfreesboro, NC and graduated from Murfreesboro High School. He attended Campbell College and graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BS in Business Administration in Accounting. After graduating he worked for AM Pullen in Raleigh.
He married Marie Vereen on Dec. 21, 1968.
His life’s other occupations include an accountant at Chowan University and Western Electric in Greensboro, his own accounting business in Murfreesboro, owner of Jackson Beverage Co, in Wilmington, and also a developer and realtor.
Surviving are his wife Marie Cooke; daughter, Catherine Jones and her husband Scott; grandsons, Christopher and Andrew, brother, Quinton Cooke Jr. and his wife, Jackie and family; and brother-in-laws Ron Vereen and Rickey Hartman.
