Jack Elbert Brinkley

AHOSKIE – Jack Elbert Brinkley, age 84 of Ahoskie, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 29, 2011.

He was born November 25, 1926 in Hertford County to the late Joseph Wright Brinkley and Lessie Copeland Brinkley. He was the husband of the late Janie Baggett Brinkley.

He was a proud WWII veteran, a farmer for most of his working life and served the customers at Union Sand and Gravel until his late seventies. He loved his work and he loved his family.

A Celebration of Life service was held Sunday, July 31, 2011 at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home in Ahoskie. Burial followed in the Brinkley Family Cemetery. Rev. Curtis Pixler officiated.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Jackie. R. Brinkley and his wife, Anne, of Ahoskie; his grandchildren, Sheri Brinkley Futrell and her husband, Michael, of Winton and Josh Brinkley and his wife, Jessica, of Ahoskie; his great grandchildren, Steven and Michaela Futrell and Lily Ann Brinkley; two brothers Quinton Brinkley and his wife, Frankie, of Virginia Beach, VA and Linwood Brinkley and his wife, Ada, of Roxobel; and two sisters, Betty Baggett and Edith Stocks, both of Ahoskie

The family will receive friends at the home of his son, Jackie Brinkley, 749 NC Hwy 461, Ahoskie.
